Types of Roofing
Metal beats out conventional roofing materials on a number of counts:
Expected life. Properly installed, a metal roof should last as long as the house, completely sealing out water and surviving high winds. Metal is resistant to fire, mildew, insects and rot. Warranties vary widely but most companies strongly back their products for a minimum of 50 years.
Weight. Metal roofing is lightweight . Most are from 50 to 150 pounds per square which is significantly less than typical 30 year warranty asphalt shingles.
Heat conduction. Metal reflects radiant heat from the sun, minimizing midday heat gain. Though the material itself is low in insulation R-value, many systems utilize a dead-air space between the metal and roof deck to increase energy efficiency.
Minimal roof pitch. Most metal roofing materials can be installed on gently pitched roofs without danger of leaking. Typical minimum roof pitch is 3-in-12 (the roof rises 3 inches for each horizontal foot).

Tile Roofing
Benefits of Tile Roofing

-
Tile roofs resist weather extremes better than most other materials.Roof tile is fireproof, with a class-A rating.
- Tile also acts as an insulator, helping to keep homes warmer in winter and cooler in summer thus reducing energy costs.
- Accessories for tile roofs are widely assorted, including birdstops, cloaked attic vents, hidden ridge vents, hip starters, apexes and multiple other options.
- Tile has the unique ability of being able to accent, or complement, the exterior color or finish of any home or building.
- In addition to traditional Spanish and Mediterranean styles, roof tile is available in exact replications of shake, wood shingle and slate.
- Roof tile is also available in a wide spectrum of colors, ranging from the well-known adobe red to colors that are reminiscent of moss green, driftwood gray and ocean blue. Custom colors are available in concrete tile.
- Because tile is inherently durable, tile roofs can last much longer than shingle roofs.
When combined with the range of styles and finishes tile comes in, a tile roof not only adds to the beauty of a structure, it can also add to its value, making it more attractive to a buyer and more profitable to the seller.

- The outstanding insulation from heat and cold.
- Highest storm resistance of any roofing material.
- Resistance to chipping, cracking and abrasion.
- A long life and fireproof roofing material. High strength material.
- The warmth and elegance of a natural stone.

Why can’t a regular roof installer repair my slate roof? Why do I need a specialist?
Slate is a very different material to work with, and therefore, to install or repair. A person who is trained to install and repair slate roofs is really just as much a stone mason as he (or she) is a roofer. The training is very different and the work is much more difficult and specialized. Slate cannot be cut to size and simply nailed down like asphalt shingles. Slate needs to be cut with a specialized slate cutter, which leaves the correct tapered edge.
Single-Ply EPDM
This thermostat membrane is compounded from rubber-polymer and is often referred to as rubber roofing. Some of the features that contribute to the popularity of EPDM single-ply roofing included long-term weatherability, including excellent resistance to temperature extremes, sunlight, ozone and moisture, ease, speed, and cleanliness of installation. This lightweight synthetic elastomer material has been used since the early 1970s. Another feature is adaptability. Varied application techniques such as ballasted, fully adhered, and mechanically fastened, allow EPDM roofing systems to be applied to virtually any roof surface: flat, spherical, curved, or slanted.
Thermoplastics PVC/TPO Single-Ply
Thermoplastic single-ply membranes are revolutionizing the commercial and industrial roofing industry. They represent the fastest growing segment of the U.S. roofing market over the past five years. The PVC product is a reinforced membrane with tough solvent-or-hot-air welded seams. This material has excellent durability and dimensional stability. The TPO product advances the category yet another step by combing the hot-air welding benefits of EPDM, the more traditional single-ply material. Both PVC and TPO are aesthetically pleasing, lightweight, and highly resistant. Advanced Roofing Inc. is proud to include all of these new and technically advanced roofing systems.
